El Taquito
About This Spot
El Taquito is the kind of spot where time slows just enough to welcome familiar faces and curious newcomers alike. Nestled on Mt Vernon Avenue in Colton, this modest eatery wears its heart on its sleeve — humble, approachable, and marked by an unpretentious warmth that invites you to settle in for a genuine taste of the neighborhood.
Stepping up to the counter, you can almost feel the years of tradition stacked behind the window, echoing with the quiet rhythm of a place that’s nourished families for generations. The pace here is friendly and efficient, the kind that respects your time but also pauses for those little moments — like sharing a smile with the person who’s just ordered the same plate you’re eyeing.
Food at El Taquito carries a comforting familiarity without ever feeling routine. It’s in the rich layers of cheese melting over enchiladas, the gentle hum of guacamole’s freshness tucked inside chicken tacos, and the hearty satisfaction found in combination plates that bring together a little bit of everything good. There’s a simplicity to the menu that feels honest and unforced, reflecting a kitchen that takes pride in meaning well over flash.
The setting, with its small outdoor seating and straightforward service, hints at a local gem that prioritizes authenticity over bells and whistles. It’s easy to imagine regulars stopping by after work or families carving out time for a casual weekend meal, drawn back by memories and the comforts of tried-and-true flavors.
El Taquito’s charm is woven from its human moments — the polite word from the order window, the comforting sound of casual chatter around picnic tables, and the quiet satisfaction of a meal crafted from original recipes passed down through decades. It’s not just about filling up; it’s about feeling a part of something steady, welcoming, and unmistakably rooted in this corner of Colton.

In my opinion, hands down best Mexican food in the inland empire. I have been going here since I was a little kid. My dad would take me here and he has been going here since before I was born in the late 80s. I get the #1 plate that gives you a little bit of all the goodness. When you get the pate, all your food is hidden under delicious cheese. Same original recipes. They never compromised the quality over the years. Fun walk up and order at the window kind of place. The portions and quality are high while the costs are low. Restaurant quality food out the window without burning a hole in your pocket. To the owners of this gem, Stay salty and god bless you!

Bean and cheese is solid. Colton fire burrito is really good. Chicken tacos are small but very flavorful. Asada fries were horrible. Barely edible. Zero flavored ground beef. Avoid at all costs. Other food made up for this.

Food is authentic and flavorful. A little fast food place with extremme flavor. Would recommend. Guy at the window was well mannered and polite. Will visit again. Try the chicken tacos w/ guacamole. Ask for a fork and plenty of napkins. You won't be disappointed.

The food was good. Old school style flavors, but the menu board that’s listed here is out of date. The actual prices are slightly higher. They charge an extra fee if you use credit card and a one dollar fee for a refill on the sodas. I found the prices to still be reasonable for the portions that you receive. I would say it’s worth eating here. The food was good, Prices were fair. My personal favorite is the # 1 combo, shredded beef taco, cheese enchilada, Chile Riano, rice, and beans w/ cheese, $11.80. I also get a side of chicken taquitos with a heap of guacamole sauce on top $3.50 delicious. A shredded beef enchilada $5.50 and a large Coke for $3.75. $.30 credit card fee. Grand total $23.22. I’m a big eater and I was stuffed.

Great place, fast service. Great food, clean and organized given that it was out side dinning. Small hole in the wall Restaurant. I will be coming back soon.

I went for the first time today 5/21/25. I got the chicken tacos which are closed and topped with guacamole. Simply delicious. The guacamole sucked lol but the flavor of the chicken and the crunch of those shells made up for it. I don’t like red sauce and even that is good with a spicy kick. I took away 1 star because it wasn’t hot. The chicken and shells were lukewarm. My tab was $16.10 for 3 tacos and a medium horchata. Kinda pricey so I would like hot food… all in all, I will return.

First time visitor. Ordered a 3 item combo of an enchilada, taco, and chile relleno. Food was hot and delicious. I would return; but just don't serve me a relleno that is burnt, thank you.
